Download YouTube Videos Without Any Software Or Browser Addons

In last few days we have covered various ways to download videos from YouTube. We have written about 15+ useful addons to download YouTube videos using Firefox, and we have covered a simple extension to download YouTube videos in Google Chrome.
Both these ways work perfectly well and give the users a lot of options for saving any YouTube video on their computers. But what if you are using a different browser like Internet Explorer or are accessing YouTube on a different PC, you might need to install these extensions again to get your favorite video.
Today we are writing about a very simple method to download videos from YouTube without the need of any software or browser extensions.


Simplest Way To Download YouTube Videos:

 

Let me start by saying, downloading videos from YouTube can’t get any easier than this. Lets look at the steps to download YouTube Videos anywhere, anytime with ease.

Step 1: Open the page for your favorite video on YouTube.com

Step 2: Click on the address bar, and carefully replace the term “youtube” in the url to “voobys”

Make sure, you do not change anything else in the URL. Once you replace the term as shown above, hit enter key.

Step 3: Allow Java to run on the website and download the video version you want

The Voobys website uses Java Applet to convert the video to downloadable format.  Allow it to run.

Once you click on “Run”, the Java will work its magic and create different versions of the video – ready to be downloaded.

Now the videos in YouTube come in various versions ranging from 240p to 720 or 1020p HD formats. This tool creates different versions based upon the versions available on the YouTube website.

The video we worked on had 4 version ranging from 240p to 720p, hence we see 4 different download options.

The image above shows, the different versions that were available for downloading our target video.

If you download 720p or 1020p (Version 4) videos you would get the video file in MP4 format. If you decide to download the lower versions (Version 1, 2 or 3), you would get the file in .flv format.

Both these work well on VLC media Player or Windows Media Player.

Well, that’s all. This might just be the easiest method to download a YouTube video without external software or extensions.
